C h a l l e n g e Kart Low Cost
under the patronage of The Society of Automotive Engineers of Romania
Challenge Kart Low Cost (KLC) is the result of a good collaboration, started back in 2007, between the Higher Institute of Vehicles and Transport (ISAT) in Nevers, France, and the Department of Vehicles and Transport at the University of Pitești (UPIT), and it takes place under the patronage of the Society of Automotive Engineers of Romania.
In the competition, students come up with, design, and build a kart that is as technologically innovative as possible, with a budget of 4,000 euros for the thermal project (KLCt), and 7,500 euros for the electric one (KLCe). With the kart they've built, students take part in a sporting competition on a suitable track.
To evaluate the projects, participants go through several stages: budget assessment; grading the technical solutions used and the design of the kart's body; taking part in dynamic tests on the track. The competition is, first and foremost, an engineering one, with the sporting tests mainly meant to show that the prototype is viable.
