Dean’s speech at the Anniversary of 50 Years of Academic Technical Education at the University of Pitesti

There is a moment in the academic community’s life, which, by its emotional charge, by its distinct signification, hall-marks any person that serves it with commitment and devotion. At this time, we live such a moment, when the community of our faculty celebrates 50 years from the born of the academic technical education in Pitesti.

Aristotle said „those people which educate children are deserving of much honour than those which give them life”. And, if the logical derivation could be permitted, we may state that the institutions which frame and support their educators, become more important than family. Faculty of Mechanics and Technology is one of the oldest and most performant structure of the University of Pitesti. The teachers, which all this time, taught and teach here, with belief and passion, the education art, deserve indeed the honours mentioned by the philosopher. The community, trained during all this time, has been already formed into a long and glorious tradition school, which will build its future starting from the past and present activity, that it can be proud of.

All this time, the faculty achieved the academic maturity and self-devotion, which lead to its actual rightful position in the contemporary academic world. It continues to promote new programs for bachelor, master and doctoral studies, and while in the scientific research field, it perfectly framed to the requirements imposed by the similar domestic and abroad faculties. The national economic medium got a lot of benefits from all these results.

Celebrating 50 years from its foundation, Faculty of Mechanics and Technology of the University of Pitesti presents itself as a strong, mature institution, with a high national and international reputation, with its own logistical base, and an exceptional academic staff. We could say that the half century results of our dedication offers us great chances, and we could continue optimistically think to the future.
