2020-1-PL01-KA203-081894

Te-CON3 project develops an innovative methodology for teaching General English in higher education using content modules, reflecting a variety of academic disciplines.

This project develops an innovative methodology for teaching General English in higher education using content modules, reflecting a variety of academic disciplines. It is intended for university language tuition across Europe.

Project Partners: Estonia, Germany, Poland, Portugal and Romania

Aim: develop a model of language teaching based on a sequence of content modules adjusted for language complexity and grammatical complexity in different academic areas:

·        architecture,

·        art and media,

·        automotive engineering,

·        biomedical sciences and health communication,

·        geography.

Top-quality language provision for university students is a necessary condition for the implementation of social ideals promoted by the European Union and indispensable in the global village. Student mobility, competitive job markets, development of pan-European economy and geo-political cohesion all require a competent control of a shared communication tool – the English language, the contemporary lingua franca. To help institutions in EU member states meet these expectations, we are developing an innovative English teaching methodology, equating “general academic English” with diversified academic content, with a triple focus on language, content and culture, bringing into the mix ideas from CLIL, ESP, EAP, distant learning and corpus linguistics. By offering a broad spectrum of academic topics with an unwavering language-and-culture focus we aim at promoting education for active citizenship, to stimulate linguistic and academic development, well as improved social skills.
