University of Pitesti




Intensive Romanian as a foreign language is a one-year preparatory course  addressed to international students willing to study in Romania who further choose undergraduate and postgraduate courses (bachelor degree, masters degree or doctoral studies) as well as post academic courses.

The enrolment of international students in higher education institutions is subject to the same regulations and laws applicable to the Romanian citizens – pupils, students or applicants for post academic courses (the methodology of admission for international students:RO ENFR).



Non-EU citizens who wish to study in Romania may apply at the University of Pitești in order obtain the acceptance statement and afterwards the Letter of Acceptance issued by the Ministry of Education.

The applicant must scan the necessary documents (below) and e-mail them (  to the University of Pitest for the enrolment procedure.

The University will evaluate the application documents and send a list with the applicants and their documents to the Ministry of Education, General Department for International Relations who will issue the Letter of Acceptance for the respective applicant and send it to the University of Pitesti. After receiving the acceptance statement, the official documents have to be submitted personally, in original when applying in Romania.

Before coming to Romania, the international students should have their documents endorsed within the Romanian embassies/consulates in their own countries; they should also obtain a valid visa for studying in Romania (details about getting a visa   ENFR). The non-EU applicants at the University of Pitesti may be enrolled in the required programmes without an admission exam. The admission at the University of Pitesti follows the selection procedure of the application files.

The application documents requested to be e-mailed are the following :

1. Application form – submitted in 2 copies (the form here) ;

2. a. Certified copy of the Baccalaureate Diploma or equivalent – for undergraduate studies;

    b.Certified copy of degree certificate – for post academic or PhD applicants;

3. Academic transcripts translated in Romanian, English, French or German;

4. A certified copy of the Birth Certificate;

5. Certified copy of  the passport;

6. Medical Certificate;

7. The evidence for the living quarters;

8. Photographs - passport size (4 pieces).


These documents must be accompanied by legalised translations in an international language (at choice), authenticated by the Embassy of Romania in the emittent country or with the Hague Apostille (for EU citizens).



Tuition fee for the non-EU citizens is 1980 Euros/academic year, day-course (25 hours per week intensive courses for two semesters).

Tuition fee for EU citizens is the same as for Romanian students 2700 lei per academic year.

Scholarships are offered by the Romanian state to foreign citizens according to unilateral or bilateral agreements, via authorities in charge in the respective countries. Foreign citizens may receive sholarships or gants on behalf of other states or international organizations (scholarship application procedure: EN, FR)



* to develop reading, writing and speaking skills in Romanian language;

* to facilitate students’ attainment of B2 level of language proficiency (according to CEFR) in order to enable them to attend the academic courses and seminars;

* to facilitate the acquisition of the basic level of Romanian language for specific purposes: Mathematics, Physics, Economy, Chemistry, Biology, Management and Marketing, Technical Drawing, European Culture and Civilization for one of the following modules: Philology, Medicine, Technical field, Economy or Law.

* to develop the communicative competence in certain fields (meetings, argumentation, information negotiation)



The assessment at the end of the 1st semester consists of: oral and written exam in order  to measure the linguistic skills in Romanaina language (reading, listening, speaking, writing) for A1-A2 level;

The assessment at the end the 2nd semester consists of: oral and written exam in order  to measure the linguistic skills in Romanaina language (reading, listening, speaking, writing) for B1-B2 level; written and oral exams in specialised language of the disciplines, according to the taks designed in the curriculum for each of the disciplines.



Romanian Language Institute organises the B2 Romanian language level assessment exam, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and a specific methodology aproved by Order of Ministry of Education and Scientific Research. Romanian Language Institute ships the Certificate of Attainment in Romanian Language to all candidates who were successful on the exam in order to enrol in undergraduate or graduate study programmes or post academic courses (details admission EN, FR).



The academic staff attached to the Faculty Educational Sciences, in charge with teaching activities for the Preparatory Year – Romanian Language as a Foreign Language, involves all international students socio-cultural activities such as: conferences, trips, visits at places of interest, in order to facilitate their linguistic, social and cultural integration.
